We take great pride in offering a high level of responsiveness to our clients. Bursich understands that government officials are held to the exacting standards of their constituents when it comes to cost and project completion dates. We are sensitive to these concerns.

Bursich has been involved in the design and operation of wastewater systems, Act 537 Plan preparation, feasibility studies, as well as civil engineering projects. These services have included full-scale pilot programs, establishing the basis of design, preliminary and final design, assistance with bidding, contract administration, contract observation, final inspection, and operations assistance.

Oaks Wastewater Treatment Plant

Oaks Wastewater Treatment Plant

Bursich was responsible for construction design, contract administration, startup/training and ongoing treatment plant operations, consultation, NPDES permitting and reporting, regulatory agency coordination, industrial pretreatment, and project construction contract administrative assistance. Lower Perkiomen Valley Regional Sewer Authority (LPVRSA) provides wastewater treatment for Lower Providence, Upper Providence, Skippack and Perkiomen Townships, and Collegeville and Trappe Boroughs. The LPVRSA facilities include the Oaks Wastewater Treatment Plant permitted for an average daily flow of 14.25 MGD and peak monthly flow of 20.0 MGD, in addition to the 45,000 linear feet 24-inch to 66-inch diameter Perkiomen Creek Interceptor. The Oaks WWTP plant was upgraded in 2007 with $43 million in improvements. The plant entails preliminary treatment of channel grinders, an influent pumping capacity of 50 MGD, centrifugal grit removal and lime stabilization, primary sedimentation, variable secondary treatment by A/O Activated Sludge, Conventional Activated Sludge, Step Feed Activated Sludge or Contact Stabilization Activated Sludge, final clarification, disinfection by hypochlorite chlorination, de-chlorination by sodium bisulfite, and post-aeration by cascade. Primary and secondary waste sludge are blended then dewatered through two belt filter presses and lime stabilized, with ultimate disposal by land application.

Towamencin Creek Interceptor

Towamencin Creek Interceptor

Bursich was retained by Towamencin Township to perform engineering and surveying design services, construction consultation, administration of contract documents, construction observation, and related services for the construction of public sanitary sewer improvements on the Towamencin Creek Interceptor under the northeast extension of the PA Turnpike in Montgomery County, PA. These services were provided in accordance with the latest state and county standards as directed by the Township Board of Supervisors and Public Works Director. This project required coordination with the PA Turnpike Commission, Montgomery County Conservation District, and PA-DEP. The scope included the construction of approximately a quarter mile of sanitary interceptor installation, temporary stream diversion, roadway restoration improvements, right-of-way acquisition, and requisite permitting. Consulting services included securing all needed permits, preparing projected cost estimates, administration of the contract documents, review and processing all shop drawings, requests for payment, approval of contract change orders, scheduling, daily construction observation, and overall coordination of the construction process.

G.R.O.W.S. Design-Build Leachate Facility

G.R.O.W.S. Design-Build Leachate Facility

In April 2011, Stone Hill Contracting Co., Inc. of Doylestown, PA, partnered with Bursich Associates and other subconsultants, and was successful in receiving the Design-Build contract for a major leachate treatment facility at the G.R.O.W.S. Landfill in Morrisville, Bucks County, PA. The plant, owned by Waste Management, receives leachate from three different landfill sites including G.R.O.W.S., Tullytown, and G.R.O.W.S. North Landfills, and replaces the existing plant that is on site. The project is believed to be the largest of its type in the United States. Total time for design, permitting, and construction was approximately 16 months and valued at over $20 Million. It was through the coordinated efforts of all involved from the Owner (Waste Management), Designers (Bursich, Tangibl, Nalco), and Contractor (Stone Hill Contracting Co.) that it was possible to complete the complex project in a short time frame.
